Consensus

Dad thinks that Eva shouldn’t go to the prom.
Eva, has a very different point of view
Eva’s sisters think Dad is very wrong
Mom, always supportive and strong
is expected to vote with Eva and friends,
but there will be hanging chads and waffling
moments, tests of loyalty and love
whispers in the bedroom, escalating voices
old photos left on display on the dresser
hints and questions of motive and integrity
setting teeth to grind and memory to spin -
till a pressed corsage, brings a grin and trust erupts.

With no failure of faith and no decisions to recall
Eva gets a dress, a corsage and a limo to the prom.
