Parading

There is tension in the air
The crowd is growing restless
As leaders pass out placards
To emphasize their cause.

Their enthusiasm seems at times
To overshadow reason
As they rail against everything but
Baseball, motherhood, and apple pie.

How they think all this
Can result in changing anything
 I’ll never know. Maybe they
Just like parading in the snow.
