| Northeast | Björklunden Lawrence University’s 425-acre estate on Lake Michigan in Baileys Harbor, hosts two intensive 5-day poetry workshops each fall, led by Wisconsin’s Poet Laureate, Marilyn Taylor. Poets’ retreats. Delicious meals and comfortable lodging are available on-site; commuters are also welcome. The Clearing offers a wide range of classes, including painting, writing, quilting, birding, wood carving, poetry, rustic furniture making, photography, fine wood-working, music, weaving, philosophy, stained glass, metal work, nature study and paper arts. All Clearing classes are taught in a relaxed, informal style. |
The Neville Public Museum Green Bay holds Poetry Night the last Thursday of each month. The Attic Books and Coffee in Green Bay on Bodart Street holds open mic readings on the last Saturday of each month 7:00p.m.-9:00p.m. The Harmony Cafe at 1660 West Mason (Next to Goodwill) Green Bay holds an open mic every Friday at 6:00-9:30. Dickinson Poetry Series at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County, 10341 Water Street, Ephraim, WI Starting time is 7 pm. |

The Village Booksmith Downtown Baraboo, 526 Oak St., 608-355-1001, hosts a SECOND FRIDAY POETRY series. Monsters of Poetry is a monthly series of writers from near and far. Just Bust is a monthly open mic with featured readers sponsored by First Wave/OMAI at UW-Madison. Usually takes place the first Friday of the month through the school year. Sheboygan County’s Mead Library Poetry Circle, led by Lakeland College Poet in Residence Karl Elder, will meet monthly this spring at 6:30 p.m. in Sheboygan on February 17, March 24, April 21, and May 19—all dates Wednesdays. Milwaukee Internet Literary Calendar BONK! a monthly performance series, held at The Racine Arts Council building, 316 Sixth Street in downtown Racine, WI. It is usually (but not always) held on the fourth Saturday of the month and runs from about 6-7:30pm, give or take. Sponsored by the Racine Public Library, this series is curated by Nick Demske. Along with Demske, the series was originally founded in October 2008 with Matt Specht and Nicholas Michael Ravnikar. The Urban Echo Poets read and write poetry with images of nature at its core. We meet at the Urban Ecology Center, 1500 East Park Place, Milwaukee.
