and why not?
Groundhogs flock
to army bases
because of all
the tools we have
to kill the pests,
the military is not
among them.
There is no pride
greater than that
of a girl
given the family
dog's leash
for the first time.
Jesus' name
in fluorescent purple
is still Jesus and
there are worse ways
to spend an afternoon
than gazing out
the window of a bus,
headed towards
the woman I love.
