The Day the Lady,
Elizabeth Taylor died, we remember
the outdoor movie when
a rusty speaker hollered
into our carful of teenagers,
and we saw a scene filled with unseen nudity and hot
breaths of lovers, and one said,
they’re doing it, and a voice
from the back seat said,
that’s why they ain’t showing it, and I wondered
what was going on in that back seat, but the rearview
mirror was broken. And George Eastman fell
for Angela Vickers, and his pregnant
girlfriend Alice drowned, and we all swallowed
hard on our popcorn and Coca-Cola.
