at the decomposium: VW's (de)compos(t)ing station
The (de)compos(t)ing station was created for Wormfarm Institute's first "decomposium": Land, Food & Transformation: A De-Composium,
Aldo Leopold Legacy Center,
presented by Wormfarm Institute, The UW-Madison Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems,Verse Wisconsin and the Aldo Leopold Foundation.
The point of the decomposium, to bring together musicians, artists, poets, scientists, and farmers, was echoed by the (de)compos(t)ing station, designed to break down barriers between text and image and different kinds of texts, attempting to design poetry activities that were both approachable for all ages, but also stimulating intellectually and creatively. And fun. Feathers, fabric, glue sticks, tape, whiteout, magnets and markers were involved. As was a Soils Engineering textbook. Participants created poetry collage, magnetic poetry lipograms, & erasures.
